Swansea City confirm training ground "incidents" between players

Swansea City confirm that "certain players" were involved in a training ground 'incident' recently, but the club insists that the issues have been resolved.

Swansea City have confirmed that a number of players were involved in a training ground bust-up ahead of their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

Reports emerged claiming that an incident had occurred at the Welsh outfit before their 1-0 loss at the Liberty Stadium.

Despite the "incidents" taking place, the club has insisted that the issue has been dealt with and the Swansea supporters need not worry about the atmosphere among the group.

"Yes, there were a couple of incidents between certain players, which the club does not condone yet understands," BBC Sport quotes a Swansea spokesman as saying. "They were quickly dealt with and everyone moved on.

"These things often happen on training grounds up and down the country, so despite the media reports, Swans fans shouldn't be concerned.

"The squad had just returned to training on the back of a disappointing defeat at Hull and their frustration at not getting the result they wanted boiled over during a full 11 vs. 11 practice match between the group. There are a lot of winners within the squad and they want to finish the job."

In January, Chico Flores and Garry Monk, who was later promoted as manager, got involved in an altercation at the ground, which prompted a member of the public to call the police.

On the pitch, Swansea are currently three points above the relegation zone in the Premier League table.
