Swansea City boss Garry Monk wants to begin talks with Wayne Routledge over a deal to keep the winger at the Liberty Stadium to 2018, reports suggest.
Monk has already secured new contracts for Leon Britton and captain Ashley Williams, as well as negotiating a new deal for highly-rated youngster Jay Fulton following his breakthrough into the first team.
Now, according to Wales Online, the decision has been made to reward Routledge for his form last season with an extension to his existing contract.
The proposed deal will put Routledge on par with Swansea's highest earners and keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2018.
The Swans begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford for Louis van Gaal's first game in charge of Manchester United.
