Lionel Messi to extend stay at Barcelona?

Lionel Messi could reportedly extend his stay at Barcelona beyond the end of the 2020-21 season.

The Argentina international is out of contract next June and having been denied a move away from Camp Nou in the recent transfer window, had been expected to leave the club next summer in search of pastures new.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman recently hinted that the club's star player would be moving on next year, but according to The Telegraph, the news that Josep Bartomeu has resigned as president could lead to the 33-year-old extending his stay with the Catalan club.

Bartomeu, who has recently been criticised by both Messi and Gerard Pique, stood down from his position on Tuesday ahead of an expected vote of no confidence.

Manchester City are seen as the favourites to sign the South American should he leave, while Inter Milan and Juventus have also been credited with an interest.

The attacker has scored twice and registered three assists in six appearances for Barca this term.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to battle the likes of Barcelona and Juventus for the signature of Ajax teenager Ryan Gravenberch in 2021.

The 18-year-old, who has contributed two assists in six appearances for Ajax this season, is believed to be a transfer target for both Barca and Juve.

However, according to The Mirror, United are also firmly in the hunt for the Netherlands Under-21 international.

The report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are 'keeping tabs' on the central midfielder as they weigh up a move in either January or at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Gravenberch, who has a contract in Amsterdam until June 2023, has already turned out on 20 occasions for Ajax's first team, contributing four goals and three assists.

The Red Devils signed Donny van de Beek from the Dutch giants over the summer.
