Preview: Vitesse vs. Feyenoord - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Eredivisie clash between Vitesse and Feyenoord, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Feyenoord make the journey to the GelreDome on Sunday for their meeting against Vitesse seeking to pick up a fourth consecutive Eredivisie victory.

Meanwhile, the hosts will aim to return to winning ways on home turf where they have failed to emerge victorious in any of the last three matches in all competitions.

Feyenoord made it three home league wins from as many games this term by seeing off the challenge of NEC Nijmegen in a frenetic 5-3 thriller at De Kuip on Sunday.

Arne Slot's men led by two 17 minutes into the match thanks to Orkun Kokcu and Luis Sinisterra, before goals from Magnus Mattsson, Cas Odenthal and Calvin Verdonk turned the game on its head.

The contest would still take one final twist as a late Guus Til brace saw his side retake the lead heading into stoppage time in which Cyriel Dessers scored the clincher.

Consequently, De Stadionclub have now moved into third place on the log, four points adrift of league leaders Ajax with a game in hand.

The Rotterdam-based club also defeated Czech Republic side Slavia Praha 2-1 in their second Conference League group-stage fixture on Thursday.

Next up for Sunday's visitors is a trip to a venue where they have emerged victorious in only one of the last five matches dating back to 2017.

Vitesse's wait for a first home league triumph of the campaign continues following a 1-1 stalemate against Fortuna Sittard on Saturday.

Despite conceding early on to Mats Seuntjens, Thomas Letsch's men rallied in the second half and got back on level terms thanks to Nikolai Baden Frederiksen.

Vitas remain ninth on the log but have fallen further behind the early front-runners after dropping points on their own patch yet again.

The Arnhem-based side were also defeated 2-1 by French outfit Rennes in their second Conference League group-stage fixture on Thursday and head into Sunday's game on the back foot.

Team News

Reiss Nelson still awaits his first appearance for Feyenoord since joining on loan from Arsenal as he remains sidelined with a groin injury.

Mark Diemers remains out with a knee injury which he sustained back in July and is also unavailable for this weekend's high-profile contest.

Twenty-year-old goalkeeper Daan Reiziger has missed 14 straight games with a shoulder problem with his last outing coming in a pre-season friendly versus Go Ahead Eagles.

Oussama Tannane played no part in his side's defeat in midweek due to a minor injury, and he could return to the starting XI for this one.

Vitesse possible starting lineup:
Schubert; Doekhi, Bazoer, Rasmussen; Wittek, Tronstad, Bero, Dasa; Tannane, Gboho, Frederiksen

Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Bijlow; Malacia, Senesi, Trauner, Pedersen; Kokcu, Til, Toornstra; Sinisterra, Jahanbakhsh, Linssen

We say: Vitesse 1-2 Feyenoord

Having both featured in midweek, the sides might be a bit fatigued, but we expect a keenly-contested affair nonetheless. We are also backing the away side to come away with all three points, albeit by only a narrow margin.
