West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Pardew admits that he does not want Jonny Evans to leave The Hawthorns during the January transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Pardew has admitted that he will do all he can to keep Jonny Evans at the club for the rest of the season.

Last summer, Evans was linked with a transfer to either Arsenal or Manchester City before eventually remaining at The Hawthorns, but the Northern Ireland international is likely to attract more interest in January.

Pardew has acknowledged that Evans is not certain to remain in the West Midlands, but hopes that the Baggies are able to retain the services of the centre-back.

The 56-year-old told reporters: "I'm never confident of keeping great players. Your best players are always vulnerable. Jonny Evans is one of those. Do I want to lose him? Of course not. Do I fear losing him? Of course I do.

"He's been terrific for me. I thought he was outstanding against Crystal Palace."

Evans has scored once in 13 starts for West Brom in all competitions this season.
