West Bromwich Albion have reportedly earmarked Burnley's Ben Mee as their top target to replace Jonny Evans should the Northern Irish defender leave in January.
New Baggies boss Alan Pardew admitted earlier this week to being worried about Evans's long-term future at The Hawthorns, having been strongly linked with Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton.
The Telegraph claims that contingency plans are already in place, however, as Mee has emerged as an ideal candidate to fill any potential void in the heart of Albion's defence.
Evans will attract a transfer fee of around £30m, which Pardew is expected to reinvest in his squad to help with their Premier League relegation battle.
West Brom's move for Mee could be boosted by Burnley's long-standing interest in winger James McClean, meanwhile, with the same report suggesting that the Clarets may be willing to do business.
