Sam Allardyce hails Alex Song's "outstanding quality"

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that Alex Song showed "outstanding quality" during their surprise Premier League win over Manchester City.

Sam Allardyce has said that Alex Song has "outstanding quality" following his performance during West Ham United's win over Manchester City yesterday.

The London side beat the Premier League champions 2-1 at Upton Park, with the on-loan Barcelona midfielder helping set up goals for Diafra Sakho and Morgan Amalfitano.

The Hammers manager told reporters: "[Song has] been in the shadow of Sakho and [Enner] Valencia but this lad has outstanding quality. He prompts with his passing and his protection to the back players is excellent.

"Song led us as a team and the rest of the team followed. Sakho and Valencia, I don't think they know what they've done yet, I don't think they know how good they've been."

West Ham currently sit fourth in the Premier League table following a three-match winning run.
