Kevin Nolan: 'West Ham United targeting top-half finish'

West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan backs his side to match last season's top-half finish in the 2013-14 Premier League campaign.

West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has insisted that his side have the firepower to match last season's top-half finish in the Premier League.

Sam Allardyce's team ended their first campaign back in the top flight in 10th place, comfortably staving off relegation fears as they earned 46 points from 38 league matches.

Nolan believes that signing striker Andy Carroll on a permanent basis can help boost the Hammers' chances of improving next season.

He told The Sun: "We're looking for double figures, me, Andy, all the strikers have to chip in with a fair amount if we want to finish top 10 again.

"The expectancy within the camp is to do better than last season. We want to make sure we're 10th or above this year."

The 31-year-old scored 10 goals for West Ham last season, while Carroll bagged seven in 27 appearances.
