Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has praised the contribution of striker Franco Di Santo this season.
However, the boss has insisted that the 22-year-old can develop further and will be given the time to do so at the DW Stadium.
"Franco keeps progressing. Early in the season when he didn't score his overall play was outstanding," he said.
"He is at a very good moment in goalscoring terms but his overall contribution to the team has been very good.
"We need to allow him to carry on enjoying his football and if we do that it will be a big season for him and Wigan."
The Argentine centre-forward joined Wigan in 2010 from Chelsea for £2m.
