Uwe Rosler slams spineless Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler accuses the Latics of 'giving up' with an "unforgivable" performance in Friday's 3-1 defeat at local rivals Bolton Wanderers.

Uwe Rosler has launched a scathing attack on his Wigan Athletic team and accused them of 'giving up' following Friday's 3-1 defeat at local rivals Bolton Wanderers.

Three goals in the space of 11 second-half minutes from Max Clayton, Craig Davies and Lee Chung-yong was enough to give Neil Lennon's side the derby-day spoils at the Reebok Stadium.

"We just folded altogether. And for that I have no understanding whatsoever. I take responsibility. I'm not blaming anybody but when we analyse the second half, we gave up," the German told Sky Sports News.

"I apologise to the chairman, I apologise to the supporters. It's very, very seldom in the last 10 years that I had a team who gave up in the way we gave up in the second half. I felt embarrassed by the performance that we have given in the second half.

"In any competitive game of football you never give up, you always fight to the end. To give up at Bolton in the second half in a derby game - it is unforgivable."

Defeat means that the Latics remain above the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of 22nd-placed Fulham.
