Wolves have progressed to the fourth round of the Carling Cup with a comfortable 5-0 win over Millwall at Molineux.
Mick McCarthy's side, smarting from a Premier League defeat to QPR at the weekend, opened the scoring just three minutes in courtesy of Dave Edwards, returning to the squad after a long spell out through injury.
Adam Hammill followed up four minutes later with his first ever goal for Wolves, with George Elokobi extending the lead to three just before the break.
18-year-old James Spray ensured a memorable debut, netting three minutes after coming on for Stephen Hunt, while Adlene Guedioura took the tally to five just before time.
Speaking to Sky Sports News after the game, McCarthy admitted he was surprised by the result. "I never think we were gonna beat Millwall 5-0, because they're a decent team. We watched them against Birmingham and they played well, even though they were beaten."
He added" "We just got off to such a good start and after the weekend, being beaten here 3-0, it was nice to get a response."
