Kenny Jackett: "We're still a mid-table team"

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett says that his side need to aim for "consistency" after they finally end their winless run.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has called upon his side to create some consistency after they finally ended a run of seven games without a win.

George Saville found his first and second goals against promotion-chasing Derby County in the day's early kickoff to hand the Championship side all three points and leave them 13th in the table.

With 12 games of the season left to play, Wolves remain a sizeable 12 points adrift of the promotion places, leaving Jackett pragmatic about their aims for the remainder of the season.

"The players responded very well against a very good team," he told Wolves Player. "We've lost three games on the trot before today and in circumstances like that quite often you then need to scrap out a draw and stop the rot. That's where you need to go first.

"Hopefully, now we can continue to build. It does put a run of three defeats behind us. As a side it'll be nice to be able to settle the team down and keep working and improving, which we need to do.

"It'd be nice if this team could settle now, and the players on the outside raise their game and create competition. We're still a mid-table team. We'll only close the gap with consistency and, most importantly, a lot of hard work."

Wolves are next in action when they travel to another of the division's promotion chasers, Middlesbrough, in the Friday night kickoff.
