Wolverhampton Wanderers say that they will be "doing everything possible" to ensure that Saturday's game with Sunderland goes ahead, despite the threat of snow.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have provided advice to supporters in the event that Saturday's Championship fixture with Sunderland goes ahead as planned.

The league leaders are set to welcome Chris Coleman's side to Molineux, but snowfall in the West Midlands has already cast doubt over whether the game will be played.

With more snow expected in the next 24 hours, Wolves have called on fans to arrive early if the pitch and surrounding areas pass an inspection.

A statement read: "Following the snowfall in the early hours, and continued forecast for more snow today and also overnight, Wolves can confirm that they will be doing everything possible with the aim that tomorrow's game against Sunderland (kickoff 3pm) can still go ahead.

"Staff and fan volunteers will be working to clear the stadium and ensure that it is a safe environment for what is expected to be a large crowd due at Molineux tomorrow.

"At this stage, advice to fans is to start making plans to arrive as early as possible ahead of the game as the inclement weather will disrupt travel plans and will increase congestion around the stadium. All the normal road closures will be in place."

Wolves currently hold a four-point lead at the top of the second-tier standings.
