Ernie Els has admitted that using a belly putter is tantamount to cheating.
The South African, who claimed his second Open Championship with victory at Royal Lytham on Sunday, uses the controversial putter, which has attracted some criticism from fellow professionals.
Critics claim that golf clubs should not be anchored in any way to the player's body.
Despite using the longer stick to his advantage, Els does believe that it is cheating.
"Nothing should be anchored to your body and I still believe that," said the 42-year-old. "But as long as it's legal, I will keep cheating like the rest of them."
Sunday's victory recorded his fourth triumph in a Major tournament.
