Leeds Rhinos half-back Danny McGuire has been ruled out of Friday's Super League semi-final against Wigan Warriors through suspension.
The 29-year-old has been given a one-match ban by the Rugby Football League's disciplinary committee for a high tackle on Catalan Dragons' Louis Anderson during Leeds's 27-20 win in Perpignan last week.
Coach Brian McDermott argued that his player was aiming for the ball and that his arm would have made contact with the ball but for Anderson falling in the tackle.
However, the committee ruled that, while the offence was at the lower end of reckless, it merited a ban because direct contact had been made the opponent's head.
McGuire is the most prolific tryscorer in Super League history.
