Sale Sharks fly-half Danny Cipriani is recovering in hospital after being hit by a double-decker bus on a night out in Leeds.

The 25-year-old was hit by the vehicle while crossing the road during a marathon pub crawl in the city centre.

The former England international was treated for a concussion at the scene before undergoing more checks at a local hospital.

"Danny's spending the night in hospital. X-rays and scans will be carried out overnight," his manager James Williamson told The Sun.

"He's obviously in pain. He was running across the road and just misjudged the speed of a bus."

Sale's final match of the season is against Cipriani's former club London Wasps on Saturday, May 4.
