Danny Cipriani believes that he has plenty to prove when he starts his career with Sale Sharks after a stint with the Melbourne Rebels.

The 24-year-old fly-half came to an agreement with the Australian club to terminate his contract in order to join up with Sale for pre-season after signing to the Aviva Premiership side in March.

"I just want to make the news for what I do on the rugby field," Cipriani told the Manchester Evening News. "I guess, when it comes down to it, I've got quite a lot to prove to myself as I know where I can be and what I can do and I want to achieve that with Sale.

"They have given me the opportunity and placed their trust in me and, hopefully, together we can each achieve our goals. I think I will be coming back as a better player and a better person for the experience of playing with Melbourne.

"I've done a lot of different things in the 18 months I've been out here in Australia and it has all been part of growing up, I guess."

Cipriani will hope to break back into the England squad when he returns to home soil.
