Scott Baldwin "satisfied" by opening-game win over Uruguay

Scott Baldwin tells Sports Mole that he is "satisfied" with the way Wales eased past Uruguay after making a "sloppy" start to things in Cardiff.

Wales hooker Scott Baldwin has declared himself "satisfied" with his side's opening-game victory over Uruguay at the Rugby World Cup.

The Red Dragons made a slow start to things at the Millennium Stadium, before rallying to cross over eight times on their way to a commanding 54-9 victory.

Baldwin admits that Wales were "sloppy" in the opening quarter of the contest, but believes that it is very much a case of job done at this early stage of the tournament.

"We were sloppy for the first 15 or 20 minutes, but after that we managed to step things up a bit," he told Sports Mole. "We have spoken all week about taking the easy options if they are on, which provided a platform for the backs.

"I thought our maul was particularly good, especially considering the stress Uruguay put us under with their low tackles, so from our point of view we executed exactly what we had spoken about through the week.

"We are satisfied to have won the lineouts and the scrums, but we realise next weekend against England is a massive step-up in quality - we know they are going to come at us."

Wales face England at Twickenham next weekend, before taking on Fiji and Australia in their final Pool A fixtures.
