Roger Federer has praised his Australian Open first-round opponent Yen-Hsun Lu after beating the world number 47 in straight sets.
The second seed needed less than two hours to ease to a 6-4 6-2 7-5 win on the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne this morning.
Speaking on court after the match, the Swiss player said: "I thought it was a really good level. We played a tough match.
"I've played him a few times before so I know what he can do. It's tough to get rid of him, especially in the first round."
Federer will face Italy's Simone Bolelli in the next round later this week.
