Kyle Edmund through to third qualifying round at Roland Garros

British number four Kyle Edmund reaches the final qualifying round of the French Open with a straight-sets win over former quarter-finalist Victor Hanescu.

Kyle Edmund has moved one win away from the main draw of the French Open after an impressive victory over Victor Hanescu in the second qualifying round.

The 20-year-old, who is currently at a career-high standing of 121 in the world rankings, had fought back from a set deficit to see off Gerald Melzer on Tuesday, but his triumph over the Romanian was a lot more straightforward.

Hanescu, a former quarter-finalist at Roland Garros, was blown away by a 6-1 6-2 scoreline as Edmund continued his attempt to qualify for his second major of the year after previously featuring at the Australian Open in January.

Edmund will play world number 113 Adrian Menendez-Maceiras on Friday.
