Richard Gasquet battles past Carlos Berlocq into French Open third round

Richard Gasquet seals a place in the third round of the French Open with a straight-sets win over Carlos Berlocq.

Richard Gasquet has grabbed a place in the third round of the French Open following a 7-6(5) 6-4 6-4 victory over Carlos Berlocq in Paris.

It was a tight affair between the competitors in the opening set, but Gasquet beat his opponent to the first break of serve in the match.

However, Berlocq immediately responded by sealing a break of his own following a game that was pulled back to deuce three times before a winner was hit.

The set was eventually decided with a tie-break, which was edged 7-5 by Gasquet, who struggled to find a break in the second set until the ninth game.

After taking the second set, Gasquet dealt a blow to Berlocq by taking his opening service game in the third, which allowed him to push on and wrap up proceedings.
