Andy Murray remains on course to clinch his first Grand Slam title after seeing off Tatsuma Ito with a 6-1 7-5 6-0 victory.
The world number four stormed through the opening set, displaying an impressive control of the clay court while stopping his inexperienced Japanese opponent from making an impact on the clash.
Murray looked likely to snatch the opening set without losing a game, although the Scotsman experienced some challenge from Ito towards the closing stages of the first set. However, it wasn't enough to trouble Murray who secured the comfortable lead.
The 25-year-old tried to continue his dominance in the second set but two straight double faults helped Ito break back instantly, causing a slight wobble for the number four seed.
Despite a brief setback, Murray managed to compose himself and claim a two-set lead in Paris, leaving just one set left to claim victory.
While the Scotsman experienced a hint of trouble in the second set, Murray took back control in the third set and managed to secure a place in the second round of the competition.
