Samantha Stosur reaches fourth round of French Open

Samantha Stosur beats Dominika Cibulkova in straight-sets to seal her place in the fourth round of the French Open.

Samantha Stosur has progressed into the fourth round of the French Open by securing a 6-4 6-4 victory over Dominika Cibulkova in Paris.

It was a poor start to the opening set for Cibulkova as she was broken by Stosur in her first service game, but she later responded to level games on 2-2.

However, the Australian broke back instantly to give herself the edge, which was enough to eventually secure a one-set lead.

It was a battling start between the pair in the second set as Cibulkova and Stosur saved three and two break points respectively to stay on serve.

However, Stosur was the first to get a vital break to take a 4-3 lead, and despite Cibulkova's attempts to launch a comeback, the Australian had enough power to remain on top and see out the match.
