Mikhail Youzhny battled back from a two-set deficit against Pablo Carreno to reach the second round of the French Open in Paris this afternoon.
It appeared that 22-year-old Carreno was about to cause an upset when he won the first two sets in the French capital 6-3 6-1.
However, Youzhny, currently ranked 15 in the world, started his comeback when he won the third set 6-3. The Russian then ensured that a deciding fifth set would be required to determine a victor when he claimed the fourth set 6-4.
That comeback appeared to inspire Youzhny, who then won six games in succession to seal his spot in the next round.
He will now take on either Facundo Arguello or Radek Stepanek for a slot in round three.
