Eugenie Bouchard pulls out of Toray Pan Pacific Open

Eugenie Bouchard confirms that she will play no part in the Tokyo tournament after failing to recover from the concussion which forced her withdrawal from the US Open.

Eugenie Bouchard has announced that she has pulled out of next week's Toray Pan Pacific Open as a result of the head injury she suffered at the US Open earlier this month.

The 23-year-old was forced to withdraw from Flushing Meadows after slipping and sustaining the injury in the locker room after a mixed doubles match earlier this month.

She has now revealed that she has failed to adequately recover from the effects of the knock and consequently has confirmed that she will play no part in Tokyo.

"I am really disappointed to withdraw from the Toray Pan Pacific Open, but I have not sufficiently recovered from the concussion that I sustained while competing at the US Open," Bouchard said in a statement on the WTA Tour website.

"My fans in Japan are very special to me. I love playing there and I cannot wait to go back next year."

After struggling this year the world number 26 had reached the fourth round in New York before her accident. It is not yet known how long she is expected to be out of action.
