Andy Murray has claimed that his fitness should not be an issue for the ATP World Tour Finals and Davis Cup final after suffering back problems during his quarter-final match against Richard Gasquet at the Paris Masters today.
The Scotsman, who has won two Grand Slam titles in his career so far, stiffened up during his three-set win over the crowd favourite.
When asked by Sky Sports News if his back problem was a concern, Murray said: "No, I don't think so. I was moving well right through to the end. It was giving me a little bit of trouble on my serve, but that can happen, it's a long season. [Gasquet] puts you in positions on the court that not a lot of guys are able to.
"The first two matches [in Paris] were relatively quick and easy. I wasn't put under that much stress in those matches. Maybe it's normal after two and a half weeks since Shanghai, and a couple of quick matches, to feel a little stiff and sore.
"But that's a good thing, so I can get that out of the system. Come the World Tour Finals and Davis Cup, it shouldn't be a problem."
Murray, who will take on David Ferrer in the semi-finals, had back surgery in 2013.
