Chuhan Wang has progressed into the second round of the Shanghai Masters with a straight-sets victory over Italy's Fabio Fognini.
The Chinese player beat the world number 17 7-6[5] 6-4 after one hour and 24 minutes of tennis.

The opening set was a closely-fought affair, with neither player giving much away on their serve. The set moved to a tie-break, which Wang won 7-5.
Wang, who is ranked 553 in the world, continued to impress against his more experienced opponent in the second set, breaking early to move two games ahead.
He maintained his advantage to claim the set and book a place in the next round of the tournament.
