Tenth seed Grigor Dimitrov has booked his place in the second round of the Shanghai Masters by seeing off Denis Istomin in straight sets.
The Bulgarian lost just one point in the opening three games, breaking Uzbekistan's Istomin twice before winning the opening set 6-3.
It was the same score in the second, with Dimitrov saving two break points in the fifth game before making the crucial breakthrough in the next.
He came through in just over an hour to set up a second-round meeting with either Julien Benneteau or Zhang Ze.
