Milos Raonic has defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets to progress to the quarter-finals of the Italian Open.

Both players managed to hold their serve in the first set, with Canadian Raonic eventually edging to a 7-3 win after a tie-break.

In the second set, Raonic was able to break his opponent in the third game and held on to win 6-4 to take the match.

Raonic will face the winner of the third-round tie between Ivan Dodig and Jeremy Chardy.
