Roger Federer has eased into the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships with a straight-sets victory over Benjamin Becker.

The world number eight was in blistering form during the opening set, taking it 6-1 after just 27 minutes.

It was not quite as straightforward for Federer in the second, but the five-time champion was able to wrap it up 6-4.

The Swiss will face either Radek Stepanek or Michael Russell in the next round.
