Mardy Fish admits that "no-one" thought that Novak Djokovic's 43-match unbeaten run earlier this year could be possible.

Rogers Cup finalist Mardy Fish has said that "no-one" thought that Novak Djokovic's unbeaten run earlier this year could be possible.

Fish beat Serbian Janko Tipsarevic 6-3 6-4 to progress to the final at Montreal, where he will meet either Jo Wilfried-Tsonga or the world number one, who won 43 matches without loss to start the 2011 season.

Speaking after his semi-final triumph, Fish talked about his potential opponent and admitted that his recent success has been "incredible".

"[Djokovic] was capable of winning any event," he told reporters. "Rafa had a pretty good stranglehold on the French Open, you thought.

"Every knock, if you will, if he had any, he's answered tenfold this year. It's been incredibly impressive. To win Indian Wells and Miami back to back is incredible. Then the two clay court events, I mean, no-one thought that could be possible.

"He did it with, I mean, not ease, but straight sets both times. Pretty incredible."
