Donald Young upbeat despite defeat to Stanislas Wawrinka at US Open

Donald Young feels that his experience at the US Open will stand him in good stead for the future as he crashed out in the fourth round at the hands of Stanislas Wawrinka.

Donald Young has admitted that he is upbeat over his future in the game, despite his exit in the fourth round of the US Open.

The 26-year-old lost in four sets to fifth seed Stanislas Wawrinka to crash out of his home Grand Slam, but Young matched his best performance at a major by reaching the last 16 and believes that it will stand him in good stead in the future.

"This was a good step in the right direction for me," Young told reporters. "I think I'm a little more ready to be a little more consistent.

"I feel like things are coming around. I really feel like I'm ready to do it on a consistent level and not just do it for a while or work hard for a little bit and then relax. I'm looking forward to keeping it going."

Young last reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam at the US Open in 2011.
