Lindsay Davenport believes that Heather Watson's current form at Wimbledon proves that the British 20-year-old will become a top prospect in the future.

Former Wimbledon champion Lindsay Davenport believes that British youngster Heather Watson has enough quality to become a force in the future.

The 20-year-old claimed a 6-1 6-4 victory over Jamie Lee Hampton in the second round at SW19 yesterday.

"She's improved over the last year," Davenport told BBC Radio Five Live. "She looks more composed and sure of herself and you have to love the way she's handling the pressure.

"Her long-term prospects are very good. Getting to the third round is huge step. It will raise her ranking. If she reaches this point again in 12 months' time I would be surprised if she wasn't in the top 50 or 60."

Watson will take on Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round at Wimbledon.
