Roger Federer: 'I risked looking silly with audacious lob shot'

World number two Roger Federer admits that his audacious lob against Sam Querry was "the perfect shot".

Roger Federer pulled off one of Wimbledon's greatest shots in his second-round clash against Sam Querry, but he has admitted that had it gone wrong he would have looked "a bit silly".

The second seed slipped the racquet between his legs to direct the ball over the head of his beleaguered opponent, en route to claiming a 6-4 6-2 6-2 victory.

Having successfully managed to perfect the notoriously difficult shot - commonly referred to as a 'tweener' - Federer was eager to get the job in hand done and secure his passage into round three.

"It's rare that those shots happen so when they do you have to pull them off. If you don't win the point you do look a little bit silly," The Independent quotes the Swiss ace as saying.

"It was the perfect shot, I even had a little bit of time which allowed me to get into position. It just felt like I had time."

Federer is looking to secure a record eighth title at Wimbledon this year.
