Tamira Paszek praises the Wimbledon crowd for the role that they played in helping her beat Caroline Wozniacki.

Tamira Paszek has thanked the Wimbledon crowd for helping her overcome the challenge of former world number one Caroline Wozniacki earlier today.

The Austrian, who was making her first ever appearance on Centre Court, fought back from a one-set deficit to defeat the Dane 5-7 7-6 6-4.

Discussing her victory with BBC Sport after the match, the 21-year-old admitted that she may not have emerged victorious without the support of a packed Centre Court.

"She is such a fighter, she won't give you a free point," Paszek said. "We had some amazing rallies, I'm just so glad to be through to the next round.

"I tried to feel the Wimbledon atmosphere, the crowd kept me going, it was a real honour to play on Centre Court."

Paszek is only the second player to have knocked Wozniacki out of a Grand Slam in the first round.
