Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye believes that the nation is rooting for him rather than his opponent Dereck Chisora ahead of the pair's clash at Upton Park on Saturday.

Haye says that Chisora has a "history" of upsetting people, whereas he has been a "model professional" and firmly believes that he will have the support during the much-anticipated bout.

In his fight diary for the Evening Standard, Haye said: "Anybody who has come across Dereck will know he isn't a nice guy. I think the public are well aware of this, too. He has a rich history of unpleasantness.

"I'd like to think I've been a model professional for most of my career. Never before have I spat, shoved, bitten or kissed an opponent. Dereck has done all of these and then some.

"Sure, he'll have his fans come Saturday night but I'd like to think the majority of sane individuals in this country will be following me and rooting for me to get rid of this almighty stain on the sleeve of British boxing."

Chisora had his licence revoked by the Boxing Board of Control in March.
