New Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has hailed the Premier League as the best league in the world.
The Frenchman completed his long-awaited £12m move from Ligue 1 champions Montpellier HSC on Tuesday and became the Gunners' second signing of the summer after Lukas Podolski.
Giroud has spent much of his playing career in the lower leagues in France, and has revealed his excitement at having the opportunity to grace English football.
"For me it's the best league in the world among the five big countries. That's why I chose Arsenal and that's why I dreamt about playing here," said Giroud. "Also the environment appeals to me - the fans, the full stadiums, the different mentality here. So I'm happy to be able to discover this league.
"It's about the fervour around football here. The [supporters] come as a family, they're very passionate, it's in their blood. They live football, eat football and sleep football. It's different to France.
"There is a nice sporting challenge as well at Arsenal, and I will play to create history and enjoy myself and give pleasure to the fans. I think that the Premier League corresponds well with me."
Giroud scored 21 goals in 36 games for the French champions last season.
