Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Gervinho and Adel Taarabt are all on the shortlist for the 2011 African Player of the Year.

Four current Premier League footballers have been nominated on the shortlist for the 2011 African Player of the Year award.

Ivory Coast trio Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Yaya Toure (Manchester City) and Gervinho (Arsenal) are all in contention for the award, along with Morocco and Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt.

Ghana are represented on the list by former Portsmouth and current AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, while international teammates Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew have also been selected.

Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o, Senegal's Moussa Sow and Mali's Seydou Keita round off the shortlist.

The winner will be announced in the Ghanaian capital of Accra on Thursday, December 22.
