Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom hands Liverpool a boost in their pursuit of £40m-rated midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Brighton & Hove Albion chairman Tony Bloom has hinted that the club may be forced to entertain offers for prized assets such as Yves Bissouma this summer.

The Mali international impressed for the Seagulls in the 2020-21 Premier League season with 35 top-flight starts under his belt, and he is thought to have attracted the attention of some of the Big Six sides.

Liverpool are being strongly linked with a move for Bissouma ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum's imminent departure, and Brighton chairman Bloom has admitted that the club will have to be "prudent" over the coming transfer windows amid their financial losses.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sussex, Bloom said: "This season and the previous season have been really tough financially. We have lost over £50m purely because of Covid over the two seasons. That money is never coming back.

"So, we have to be as prudent as we can in the coming seasons and try and be as competitive as we can.

"It is not easy, it is not easy for us or other clubs and some of the bigger clubs would have lost a lot more money because of the income that they get from bigger grounds and their huge hospitality and sponsorship compared to us.

"So, we have all got to manage that situation. I think we will see over the next two to three transfer seasons that things will be a little bit different than there have been historically."

Arsenal were initially thought to have been leading the race for £40m-rated Bissouma, but the Gunners have supposedly ended their interest in the 24-year-old.
