Aston Villa lose 3-0 to the club's Under-21s in behind-closed-doors match

Aston Villa's senior team suffer a 3-0 defeat to the club's Under-21 side in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Aston Villa's torrid season has gone from bad to worse as manager Remi Garde recently oversaw his senior players lose 3-0 to the club's Under-21 side.

The Midlands outfit are likely to drop into the Championship at the end of the season as they are rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points from safety.

The team did not play over the weekend due to FA Cup action, but last Friday, Garde selected numerous first-team players, including Brad Guzan, Ciaran Clark, Alan Hutton, Ashley Westwood, Kieran Richardson, Idrissa Gueye, Scott Sinclair and Jordan Veretout in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Jordan Ayew and Leandro Bacuna stepped out for the development side, which sealed a 3-0 triumph at the Bodymoor Heath training ground, according to Sky Sports News.

Villa's next official game is against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, February 27.
