Atalanta claim a 2-1 win over Parma with first-half goals from German Denis and Federico Peluso.

Atalanta have seen off the threat of Parma in Serie A, courtesy of a 2-1 win.

It was a perfect start for the home side as German Denis was set up by Matias Schelotto in the fourth minute to open the scoring.

Afriyie Acquah and then Amauri both came close for Parma to equalise, but the former's strike and the latter's header missed the target.

Seven minutes from the break Atalanta made it 2-0, Federico Peluso finishing well.

It looked to be heading to the break at 2-0 but Amauri rose above the home defence to meet Cristian Zaccardo's cross and reduce the deficit.

In the second half Parma came forward looking for the equaliser, with Amauri firing wide when well-placed.

Gabriel Paletta on 67 minutes and Amauri on 77 both had chances in the air but were unable to test Andrea Consigli in the Atalanta goal.

However the home defence held firm and clung on to the three points.
