Preview: Birmingham City vs. Wigan Athletic

Sports Mole previews the Championship clash between Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic can book their place in the Championship playoffs with a victory over relegation-threatened Birmingham City at St Andrew's on Tuesday evening.

Uwe Rosler's men have looked certainties to finish inside the top six, but three defeats from their last four league matches has seen them looking nervously over their shoulders.

They have lost their last two games and suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Blackpool on Saturday, which means that Brighton & Hove Albion and Blackburn Rovers could still finish above them.

A lack of goals in recent fixtures has also hampered their chances of a return to the Premier League just one season after their relegation.

Meanwhile, Birmingham are facing the prospect of relegation to League One and currently sit in the bottom three.

A defeat would not see them go down, but it would leave them needing to win their last match of the season away at Bolton Wanderers and hope that other results go their way.

They have hit a bad run of form at the worst possible time, with four defeats from their last four games following Saturday's 3-1 reverse against Leeds United.
