Marseille held by Bordeaux

Marseille's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season suffer a blow following a 1-1 draw with Bordeaux this evening.

Marseille have suffered a blow in their hopes of qualifying for Europe next season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bordeaux this evening.

Andre-Pierre Gignac had an early sight of goal for the hosts, but he could only fire his effort over the bar.

In the 31st minute the visitors took the lead through Benoit Cheyrou, who met Brice Dja Djedje's cross to head past Cedric Carrasso.

Diego Rolan came close to scoring for the hosts at the start of the second half, but he put his strike wide of the post.

In the 66th minute Bordeaux levelled the scores as Cheick Diabate slotted in from close range following Rolan's cross.

Both side's failed to create any clear-cut chances in the closing stages as the game finished on level terms.
