Lee Tomlin joins Bristol City on three-year deal

Bristol City sign 27-year-old attacker Lee Tomlin from Bournemouth on a three-year contract.

Bristol City have signed attacker Lee Tomlin from Bournemouth on a three-year contract.

The 27-year-old underwent a medical with the Championship outfit on Tuesday afternoon, before putting pen to paper on a deal that will run until the summer of 2019.

Tomlin joined Bristol City on loan in the second half of last season and scored six times in 18 appearances to help steer the club away from the relegation zone in the Championship table.

"We're delighted to welcome Lee back to Ashton Gate. Credit has to go to the board for their efforts in getting this deal done," Bristol City boss Lee Johnson told the club's official television channel.

"I believe we've signed the most talented player at Championship level in terms of ability. He was fantastic for us last season and I believe his best football is ahead of him. He does things every day in training that make you smile - you think how on earth has he done that?

"Hopefully it's a statement of intent. It shows the kind of football we want to play. I'm sure everyone will be pleased with it and, who knows, it might just bring a few more supporters through the turnstiles into the new-look Ashton Gate, increasing our already superb fanbase."

In a post on Twitter, Tomlin thanked Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe for his part in the transfer and branded the 38-year-old a "very good manager".
