Preview: Bromley vs. Yeovil Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's National League clash between Bromley and Yeovil Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Both teams will be aiming to make it successive victories in the National League when Bromley host Yeovil Town on Saturday.

Bromley could move into the playoff positions with a win, while Yeovil will hope to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

Match preview

Having lifted the FA Trophy for the first time in their history by beating Wrexham 1-0 in the final last season, Bromley are now aiming to reach the EFL for the first time, too.

Heading into the weekend's action only one point behind seventh-placed Solihull Moors - who have lost three consecutive matches - there is every chance that Andy Woodman's side will find themselves in the playoff spots if they can beat Yeovil on Saturday.

After securing an impressive 3-2 win away to Dorking Wanderers last time out despite being down to 10 men for more than one half of the match, Woodman and his players will be confident in terms of building on that, especially if they can keep their discipline.

Indeed, after finishing eight points ahead of their forthcoming opponents last season, Bromley should be targeting nothing less than three points from this weekend's fixture.

Yeovil have suffered quite the slide down the English footballing pyramid in recent years, of course, having been a Championship side as recently as the 2013-14 campaign.

However, after being relegated in successive seasons, the Glovers' demotion from League Two in 2019 ended their 16-season spell in the Football League as they desperately look to return to the top four divisions.

The National League is an incredibly competitive division nowadays, though, with the likes of Wrexham, Notts County and Chesterfield all significantly backed by their owners, making it difficult for clubs such as Yeovil to compete.

After enduring a very difficult start to the season, they turned to former Swindon Town boss Mark Cooper in late October, with the 53-year-old helping his side collect eight points from an unbeaten run of four games in recent weeks to move away from the danger zone ahead of their trip to South London.

Team News

Corey Whitely will serve a one-match suspension after being sent off for two bookable offences against Dorking, with Louis Dennis likely to replace him in attack.

Otherwise, it would be a surprise if Woodman changed a victorious team considering that they ended a winless run of eight matches in Surrey.

Likewise, Cooper will be forced into making one change after Matt Worthington was sent off late on against Halifax Town, with Lawson D'Ath hoping to take his place in midfield.

Having kept three clean sheets in their last four matches, Yeovil's defence should pick itself as an increasingly settled unit.

Bromley possible starting lineup:
Smith; Webster, Reynolds, Sowunmi, Hannam; Bingham, Vennings, Marriott, Cheek; Dennis, Forster

Yeovil Town possible starting lineup:
Smith; Reckord, Williams, Johnson, Stanton; Hunt, Bevan, D'Ath, Andrews; Fisher, Oluwabori

We say: Bromley 1-1 Yeovil Town

Yeovil have turned a serious corner under Cooper's management, and we can envisage them extending their unbeaten run to five games.

Bromley were in a poor patch of form prior to their victory away to Dorking last time out, and may have to settle for a point.
