Chelsea's Jose Mourinho: 'If we don't win trophies, I'll leave'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that trophies are everything for his side, but plays down title talk.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that he will leave the club if his side do not win a trophy in the next "three or four years".

The 50-year-old said that the job is essentially "about winning trophies" and if he was not doing so, then he would not wait for the sack.

"I'm not the person to be in a club three or four years without winning a trophy," Mourinho told The Telegraph. "In this case I wouldn't need the club to say 'we're not happy with you, goodbye'.

"I'd be the first one to say 'I gave everything I could but I didn't succeed, let's go and try a different thing'."

However, Mourinho has played down his side's Premier League title chances this season.

"I remember in my time here all the pressure was on us. Every one of us was permanently speaking of Mr Abramovich's millions, 'this player cost that, the other player cost that'," added Mourinho.

"So hopefully that didn't change and in this moment you turn your attention to other sides and you speak about other clubs where it looks like the Financial Fair Play didn't arrive there and give us the protection you gave to other teams during the years by saying 'they are a young team, they need time, they need to improve, they need to make mistakes'.

"So hopefully you are fair and you do this the other way and you say 'Jose: work with calm. No pressure and do your best'."

Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Hull City today, and you can follow all the action with Sports Mole's live commentary of the game from 3pm.
