Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel insists that he has no concerns over Saul Niguez despite the midfielder struggling on his debut.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has insisted that he has no concerns over Saul Niguez despite the midfielder struggling to impress on his debut for the club last weekend.

The 26-year-old, who has arrived at Stamford Bridge on loan from Atletico Madrid, started the Premier League clash with Aston Villa last Saturday but was replaced at the interval, having found it difficult to adjust to the pace of the match.

Saul was an unused substitute against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, and Tuchel has insisted that the Spaniard will need to be given time to get used to the Premier League.

"We have guys who lack experience the same as him. They all shared the experiences from their first matches. When I was on the sideline for my first match, it was at another level," Tuchel told reporters.

"If it comes up to you every three days it is quite impressive, maybe a shock of cultures. We don't doubt his quality. It takes maybe a bit of time to get it off his shoulders but he is at an age where he does not worry too much."

Chelsea - back in action against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday - will have the option to sign Saul on a permanent deal next summer for a fee in the region of £30m.
