Report: Chelsea to up pressure on Everton with second John Stones bid

Chelsea will reportedly make a £26m bid for Everton defender John Stones this week.

Chelsea will make a second offer to Everton for young central defender John Stones within the next two days, according to reports.

The Blues allegedly had an opening offer of around £20m turned down earlier this month for the 21-year-old, who has broken into the Everton first team over the last two seasons.

However, The Telegraph claims that Stones has become Jose Mourinho's main summer transfer target and a bid worth £26m will be lodged by Tuesday.

The paper says that Mourinho hopes to have Stones available for this weekend's Community Shield clash with Arsenal and feels that there is a good chance a deal will be done.

The Premier League champions have already signed Radamel Falcao and Asmir Begovic in this window.
