Stan Collymore questions England passion

Stan Collymore says that he 'dreams of a day' when England's players show strong emotion on the field.

Former England international Stan Collymore has said that he 'dreams of a day' when England's players show strong emotion on the field.

The Three Lions bowed out of the World Cup last month at the group stage following a disappointing showing in South America.

On the other hand, hosts Brazil have reached the semi-finals of the competition where numerous players have cried on the field before, during and after games.

"Brazil players cannot stop crying," Collymore told The Mirror. "The emotional strain of living up to expectation this summer has hit this Selecao squad so hard that their emotion has been raw - and I dream of a day when our England players care enough to shed a tear.

"But I love the fact these lads care so much for their country - they do not want to let anyone down - and it just leads me to wonder if we will ever see an England team with such strong emotion?"

Collymore made three appearances for England, while also playing for Liverpool and Aston Villa among others.
