Half-Time Report: Steven Naismith fires Everton in front

Steven Naismith gives Everton a deserved half-time lead over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Reading's winless start to the Premier League season looks likely to continue at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

The Royals trail in-form Everton at half-time, courtesy of Steven Naismith's second career goal for the Toffees.

Naismith broke the deadlock on 10 minutes, punishing Jobi McAnuff's poor miskick by firing home left-footed from close range.

The visitors, who have dominated possession with 65%, have been well worth their lead and could easily have extended their winning margin.

Naismith, Phil Jagielka and Leon Osman have all been denied by decent saves from Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici.
